Pictured opposite and below are the projects sent out to our members in 2010. The first two were "Dee's Dressing Table Set" and the "Coffee Plunger Cosy & Heat Mat". The third project was a beautiful, large crazy patch carry bag, in the style of the old-world carpet bags, so popular in the early 1900's. We offered a choice of five colourways in this design: burgundy, plum, pink, green, and aubergine. Our members were delighted to have the option of choosing their preferred colour for this bag, not knowing exactly what the project was, except that it was a large bag. Most, if not all our members received their first choice.
Our pretty fourth project, "A Tisket A Tasket ... ... ... My Little Sewing Basket" was a quicker project than some. Designed as a child's gift, this basket could double as a sewing basket or dressing table basket. Alternatively, the themes are suitable for any age, and the basket could be made as a gift for a stitching friend. Project #5 was the gorgeous "Sugar Plum Christmas Table Runner" ~ designed to fit in with the Sugar Plum stocking and decoration from last year.
We repeated only one of the projects from last year, and that was the exquisite embroidery work box called "The Needlewoman's Cottage". Club members from last year have received an alternative project to this one, the gorgeous "Catherine the Crinoline Lady".
Project #7 was an elegant handbag, "Linen and Leaves", and this featured simple embroidery, using Cottage Garden threads. A free pattern accompanied this project - the "Uptown Chic" linen mini shopping bag. This was given as a quick alternative to make in place of the Linen and Leaves design, if time was short. The embroidery design on the original handbag could easily be transposed to the mini shopper. Sufficient fabric was given for either (not both) of these designs.
Project #8 was a collection of fragrent little gifts: Pretty Pomanders and Scented Sachets. These could be made as individual gifts, or as a collection. Added to linen drawers or lingerie bags, or hung from knobs on dressers or cupboards, these lovely little sachets give a touch of femininity to a room. You could also add them as part of the wrapping for another gift, in place of a bow. Ideal as Secret Santa presents as well, they provide many possibilites.
Project #9 was a quick and easy one, three lovely doorstops, in the shape of handbags. There was no embroidery on this project, as we wanted to give our members a quick gift to make for one, two, or three of their special people. The gorgeous jacquard florals were almost too good to use as doorstops ~ but why not indulge yourself and your friends?
Our final project for the year was a gorgeous bag ~ Victoria's Travel Tote. Our members recieved one of four versions of this bag ~ chosen at random. The reason for this is that we had limited supplies of some of the fabrics. All are equally beautiful, and all in the same style and colours. We gave a bonus embroidery design for those who wished to make this version in place of a simple antique lace trim.
The club price includes fabrics, pattern and postage (the price for 2012 is $39 per month + $5 P&H within Australia and New Zealand and $15 P&H for other overseas). Extras such as threads and embellishment packs are also available.
New members for 2011 have the choice of The Needlewoman's Cottage or Catherine the Crinoline lady as our repeat project. Continuing members who have been with us since we started the club in 2009, will already have both of these projects, so we will be giving them a brand new project of similar quality and value.
Projects are now available separately, stocks permitting. They are listed under "Bags and Totes", "Sewing Accessories" "Christmas" and "Accessories for Ladies".
