Our tutor, Kate Morris will take you through the crazy patch process, starting with how to construct a crazy patch block on foundation stabilizer. You will construct six blocks in this way, then embellish these blocks under her loving guidance, using a variety of threads, including silk thread and silk ribbon. She will teach you a wide variety of stitches, building on your prior knowledge. Kate will look at where you are on the embroidery spectrum, and will start at that point for you, to help you to develop your knowledge. Her teaching is very much person-centred, and for this reason we have put an upper limit on her class, so that each person can receive detailed attention, instruction, and guidance.
Kate will also incorporate a design element into the course, so that you can design your own combination of fabrics and stitches to truly personalize your finished product.
The classes are normally run over a period of 6 weeks, and are held once a week for 3 hours. However, our most recent set of classes differed from the norm, and will consisted of three full-day classes held on a Saturday. This was designed to suit our ladies who work full time, or who have younger children, or busy weekly schedules.
At the end of the course, you will have six blocks ready to be made into either a wall quilt or a table runner ~ cushions, the centrepiece for a quilt ~ all of these are possibilties. Kate will give you advice as to the best way to put your blocks together to achieve what you would like at the end of the day.
