*Gift of the Month* Club Projects for 2011

If you wish to see more of the mystery projects sent out this year in this wonderful club, skip the text below and scroll down to the bottom of the page for lots of lovely photos!

Project #10 ~ Final project for this year!  "Elegant Roses" Pamper Package.  This is a lovely feminine boudoir collection: hot water bottle cover, wheat bag, and lavender sachet.  This project has a dual prupose: you can use the hot water bottle cover as a lingerie or shoe bag when travelling, and the lavender sachet can be used as a small jewellery pouch to take with you on your holiday.  Our members received this project in a random selection of colours: blue, pink, black, brown, or red.  The fabrics are from the gorgeous Quiltgate Mary Rose collection.

Project #9: "Isabella's Journal" ~ a cover for your journal, with instructions to fit a variety of sizes within the average range.  Members were sent out this gorgeous fabric in a random selection of colours: blue, cream, pink, green and chocolate.  This project is a straight sewing project with no embroidery, designed as a quick one to make for Christmas.

Project #8: "Precious Memories" Keepsake Box.  With great excitement, we sent out our premium project in September.  This lovely large keepsake box (15" long x 1 1/2" wide x 9" high) has a slightly French feel, with its black/charcoal/ivory colour combination featuring stripes and cherubs.  It is a gorgeous storage box for your precious memorobelia, documents, and collections.  This was the new mystery project, and members were able to choose between this one (not knowing what it would be!) and either Catherine the Crinoline Lady or The Needlewoman's Cottage.  Each year, we send out what is the jewel in the crown of the *Gift of the Month* programme ~ our Premium Project for the year.  Members usually have the choice of two or even three projects, for this part of the programme.  In 2012, we will be offering several alternatives, one of which will be the keepsake box, so, if you haven't joined yet, now might be the time to think about becoming part of this wonderful club for next year.

Project #7: "Mayfair Lady" Handbag.  This elegant bag is made in premium linen, and features simple embroidery, using a variegated Cottage Garden hand-dyed theread.  It is quite quick to make, and would suit almost any age as a gift or to add to your own wardrobe.

Project #6: "The Gentle Seamstress" Embroidery Folder.  What a lovely way to store your sewing tools and projects!  This beautiful folder features pretty embroidery itself, and opens out to reveal handy pockets for storage of scissors, needles, threads, and even a large secure pocket for storage of your current project, hoop and all!  Scroll down for more photos.

Project #5: "Dragonfly Writing Compendium".  This lovely project is a special way to acknowledge the art of writing letters and cards that is unfortunately not so common these days.  However, the compendium has multiple uses, if snail mail is not your thing: it is sized to fit an ipad, e-book, or even a local telephone directory.  Sweet embroidery adorns the front of the compendium, and handy pockets and slots are found inside.  The design is versatile, as the "spine" size can be changed to suit your needs.

Project #4: "Tea and Toast for Breakfast" ~ toaster cover, tea-cosy and oven mitt.  In gorgeous French fabrics from Lakehouse, this pretty trio is a girl's dream in the kitchen.  Quick and easy to make, this lovely trio could be given as a set, or split into two or even three separate gifts.  We offered our members the option of buying extra fabrics to make a sets in alternative colours, to suit various kitchens.  We have the packs available in delicious red and cream, or antique white and black.  Very chic!

Project #3: Welcome Plaque.  Elegant embroidered wall plaque, featuring champagne frosted fabric from Lakehouse, is a beautiful piece to grace the entrance to your home or that of a special friend or family member.  Stretched over foam board, artist's canvas, or framed in a beautiful frame, this lovely piece can be personalized by substituting your own message for the one given in the sample.  Size: 12 1/2" x 14 1/2" (31.5cm x 37cm).

Project #2: Teppanyaki Bag.  This gorgeous bag, made in fabrics from Robert Kaufmann's "Oriental Traditions" range was a knockout when our members received it.  We have had enormous positive feedback from our members.  This will, however, be a one-off type of design and fabric selection, because it differs markedly from our usual style.  It was one of those "out of left field" designs that just had to come to life!  The Teppanyaki Bag is a large bag (Size excluding handles: 17" x 14 1/2" or 43cm x 37cm) and all fabrics, including the lining are provided.  The bag will eventually sell as a kit for $75.

Project #1: "Parisienne Cosmetics Bag or Shower Bag" (pictured below)

Our members were delighted to receive their first mystery project for the year.  This chic little bag can be used as a cosmetics bag, or a shower bag to take away on holidays.  Made in pretty Yuwa fabrics, with a touch of simple embroidery, this roomy little bag is ideal for storage of your cosmetics or personal grooming travel requirements.
